Terms of Use
These terms apply when you use MetriMe. Please read the section on health information carefully — it describes the single most important limit on what this app is for. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
MetriMe is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. MetriMe stores the lab results you add and compares them with the reference range printed on your report. It does not diagnose anything, and it is not medical advice. Always talk to a doctor or a qualified professional about what your results mean.
What the app does
MetriMe is a record-keeping tool for laboratory test results. It lets you store results you enter yourself or that it reads from a photograph or PDF of a report, keeps them together per person, and shows how each marker changes over time.
Where the app labels a result — Normal, Watch, Too High, Too Low — those words describe where a value sits relative to the reference range printed on your own report. They are a comparison of two numbers, not a clinical judgement, and they are not a substitute for a clinician reading the same report.
What the app does not do
- It does not diagnose, treat, prevent or monitor any condition.
- It does not tell you whether a result is a problem.
- It does not recommend starting, stopping or changing any treatment.
- It is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
- It is not for emergencies. If you are unwell, contact a doctor or your local emergency number.
Accuracy, and why you must check
When you scan a report, the values are extracted automatically by software, without a person reading it. That process is imperfect: it can misread a digit, attach a value to the wrong marker, or miss a result entirely. The app lets you correct any value, and keeps your correction.
Extracted values are provided as they are found. We do not warrant that they are complete or correct, or that they are suitable for any decision you might take — and the same applies to the reference ranges the app matches them against.
Check every scanned result against the original report before relying on it. The report your laboratory issued is the authoritative document; MetriMe holds a copy that may contain errors.
Your account
You need an account to use MetriMe. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.
One account can hold several profiles, so you can keep records for people you care for. Only add another person’s health information if you are entitled to do so — for example as a parent or legal guardian, or with that person’s agreement.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload anything you have no right to upload;
- attempt to access another user’s account, profiles or results;
- probe, scan or disrupt the service, or attempt to bypass its limits;
- use the service to provide medical advice to others, or to present its output as a clinical assessment;
- resell or rent the service, or run it on someone else’s behalf as a paid service;
- copy, modify or create derivative works of the app, or reverse engineer it, except where the law permits it despite this term;
- use automated means to access the service at a rate a person could not, or to extract its content in bulk;
- upload malicious code, or anything intended to damage the service.
If you break these terms we may limit, suspend or close your account — see clause 12.
Licence and intellectual property
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use MetriMe for keeping your own records and those of people you are entitled to keep records for. That licence lasts as long as you keep to these terms.
The app itself — its software, name, logo, design and text — belongs to us or to those we license it from, and nothing here transfers any of it to you. Your health records are a separate matter, dealt with in clause 7.
Your content
The reports you upload and the results you enter remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your files, process them so their values can be extracted, and show them back to you.
That permission ends when the content does. Deleting a result, a profile or your account removes what it covers.
We do not sell your data, we do not claim ownership of anything derived from it, and we do not use your health information to train machine-learning models for anyone else.
Feedback
If you send us a suggestion, bug report or idea, we may use it to improve MetriMe without owing you payment or credit. Please don’t include health information or anything confidential in feedback — the app is the place for your records, not the message to us.
Your device and your network
You need a compatible device and an internet connection. Your mobile operator may charge you for data, and those charges are yours. We can’t guarantee the app will work on every device, operating system version or network, and connectivity problems outside our service are not something we can fix.
Availability
MetriMe is provided as-is and as-available. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, and features may change or be withdrawn. We may suspend the service for maintenance, or to protect it.
Keep your original reports. MetriMe is a convenience, not an archive of record, and you should not rely on it as your only copy.
Privacy and security
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement with us. It explains what we store, where it is stored, and how to get a copy of it or have it deleted.
We take care to protect the service and the data in it, but no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that it will never be accessed by someone who should not have access, and we cannot promise that data will never be lost.
Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or by writing to us — see Delete your account. Deleting an account removes its profiles, results and uploaded files.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law. We may also stop offering the service; if we do, we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to export your records where we can.
Clauses 6, 7, 13 and 14 continue to apply after your use ends.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that: MetriMe is a record-keeping tool, and we are not liable for decisions taken about health on the basis of what it displays. Always confirm against your original report and speak to a qualified professional.
We are also not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or goodwill, or for any loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you started using the app. Where we are liable, our total liability for all claims is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose.
These terms cover use of MetriMe by a consumer for personal purposes. Nothing in this clause removes rights you have under consumer-protection law where you live.
If someone else brings a claim
If you use MetriMe in breach of these terms — for example by uploading another person’s records without being entitled to, or by using it to advise other people — and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to be responsible for the reasonable costs of dealing with it. This does not apply to ordinary personal use of the app.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change materially affects your rights we will give notice in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use MetriMe afterwards means you accept it. If you do not, you can delete your account.
General
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer your account or your rights under these terms to someone else; we may transfer ours if the service changes hands, and your rights will not be reduced if we do.
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about MetriMe.
